Difficult Conversations: Talking About What Matters

Session Description: Every conflict or difficult conversation has a pattern to what goes wrong, and what works.  Do you have difficulty talking about what matters in a team, with a volunteer, or issues related to work performance or relationships? The crucial skills learned will help you to understand the three levels of conversations and how to promote conditions where people speak frankly and respectfully.  You will gain skills that encourage spirited dialogue and reduce confrontation and resistance.  Learn to promote best ideas, save time with fewer meetings, have less disagreement and build more alignments and better decisions.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Peace Learning Center to invest in the youth of our community.

The Presenter: George Okantey is a Purdue Extension Economic and Community Development Educator in Indianapolis.  He has twenty plus years of experience as a social entrepreneur, including excellent facilitation and project management skills. George is a certified Vital Smarts instructor of Crucial Conversations: Tools for talking when stakes are high.  He has an exceptional ability to inspire, lead, engage and coach people from diverse backgrounds and persuasions to experience excellence.

The Art of Leading Transformational Change

Session Description: Do you need to drive change in your organization?  Are you equipped to drive the changes it will take to be successful in situations where the rules are being re-written?   Leaders that continuously achieve extraordinary results understand that many of the changes they need to drive are transformational. Highly effective leaders know the difference between incremental and transformational change, they know how to lead both kinds of change and they know what it takes to be a transformational change leader.   

In this session Patti Ayars, Peace Learning Center Board member and change management expert, will teach you the difference between incremental and transformational change and what it takes to lead successful, sustainable change in an ever changing world.  Each participant will receive a copy of Patti’s new book, The Art of Leading Transformational Change - a $29.95 retail value.

The Presenter: Patti Ayars has nearly 30 years of corporate business experience in strategic human resources, organization development and mergers & acquisitions positions in a variety of industries in both domestic and global environments.  Prior to founding Turning Point Consulting in 2006, Patti was the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Communications for Roche Diagnostics Corporation.  Based on her leadership in strategically handling some of the biggest challenges in the HR profession, in 2005 Patti was named one of the 25 most powerful women in HR by HR Executive magazine.  For the past 20 years Patti Ayars has been leading and coaching others on how to lead change.  She is a co-author of the book Mastering Momentum: A Practical and Powerful Approach for Successful Change, co-developed and taught an eight month course on leading transformational change and recently released a new book, The Art of Leading Transformational Change.
